Nobody should be confused: these documents were not vetted or approved by the Members of the committee. This is a bad precedent and Im disappointed that the Majority has decided to skip over so many essential steps in making public these drafts that pretend to express committee views.

This was the right thing to do and it also eliminates the need to cut an important program in the Department of Energy budget that would have cost thousands of jobs at this precarious time...I hope that the House Leadership would avoid any further disruption by allowing this non-controversial Continuing Resolution to be approved in the House later this week.

House Republicans are insisting on a radical departure from the standard practice. They are insisting on taking $1.5 billion from another Departments budget in order to pay for $1 billion in emergency supplemental disaster relief. That is a bad precedent, and one that I believe we will regret as we confront future requests for assistance in disaster recovery. Despite my concerns, I will support this CR.
