Chairman Rogers Statement on White House Meeting Invitation

Washington, October 9, 2013

House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers gave the following statement on the invitation from President Obama to meet with House Republicans.

"For weeks, Republicans have asked the President and Senate Democrats to negotiate on our nation's spending problems. We've passed measures, modified bills, and even legislated a conference committee to try and bring leaders to the table. Finally, the White House has invited Congressional leaders to talk. I am hopeful the President is serious about finding a deal that results in meaningful spending and entitlement reforms, judiciously extends U.S. government borrowing authority, reopens all federal agencies, and paves the way for the enactment of future Appropriations bills so that this lurching from crisis to crisis can be put to an end."
