Appropriations Committee Names New Homeland Subcommittee Clerk

Washington, January 13, 2015

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers today announced that Valerie Baldwin will be taking over as the Clerk of the Homeland Security Subcommittee.

Baldwin has been Acting Clerk of the Subcommittee over the last several months. She has 10 years of experience on the Appropriations Committee, and 21 years of federal service – including serving as Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management. Baldwin has a Bachelor of Arts from Wichita State University, a Master of Science from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Kansas School of Law.

“Valerie is smart, capable, immensely hard working, and will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Committee staff,” Chairman Rogers said. “As we kick off the Congress, it is clear that Homeland Security issues will be at the forefront this year. Valerie’s expertise will be essential as she steers this subcommittee over the 114th Congress.”
