Short-Term Government Funding Bill Introduced

Washington, December 9, 2015

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers today introduced a short term Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the federal government for an additional five days, until midnight on December 16, 2015 (H.J. Res. 75). With current funding for the federal government due to expire on December 11, the new resolution today will prevent a shutdown and allow for additional time for Congress to negotiate and pass a year-long Omnibus funding bill. The new resolution will maintain existing funding levels.

“While progress is being made on negotiations for a full-year Omnibus appropriations bill, it is clear that more time is needed to complete the package. This short-term funding resolution will keep the lights on in government and maintain current operations for a few days so Congress can complete and pass an agreement. It is my hope and expectation that a final, year-long bill will be enacted before this new deadline,” House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers said.
