DeLauro Statement on Biden Nomination of Shalanda Young as OMB Director
House Appropriations Committee Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT-03) released the following statement on President Biden’s nomination of Acting Office of Management and Budget Director and former Appropriations Committee Clerk and Staff Director Shalanda Young as the permanent Director:
“In nominating Acting Director Shalanda Young to serve as the permanent Director of the Office of Management and Budget, President Biden has chosen an expert in the federal budget and a leader who is dedicated to America’s working families.
“It has been my privilege to work with Acting Director Young for many years, first as a widely respected staffer on the Appropriations Committee and now as a dedicated leader in the Biden Administration. Acting Director Young has rightly earned the respect of Democrats and Republicans for her deep knowledge, her strong relationships on both sides of the aisle, and her tenacious hard work.
“As we continue to recover from the devastation of the pandemic, I look forward to continuing to work with Shalanda on funding and policy that creates good-paying jobs, grows opportunity for the middle class, and provides a lifeline for the vulnerable who work hard. I urge the Senate to confirm her again without delay.”
