Lowey Statement on President Trump Signing Coronavirus Supplemental
WASHINGTON — House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita M. Lowey (D-NY-17) released the following statement after President Trump signed emergency supplemental appropriations legislation to address the coronavirus outbreak:
“This legislation is a strong step to enable a coordinated, whole-of-government response to keep families and communities safe from the coronavirus.
“I am pleased that Democrats succeeded in increasing this package to a total of $8.3 billion in entirely new funds. The American people will also benefit because Democrats secured reimbursements to state and local governments, assistance for small businesses affected by the coronavirus, and funding for a robust international response.
“House Democrats will continue to prioritize public health. If the coronavirus spreads further, we will not hesitate to augment this funding with additional resources.”
