House Committee on Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers today gave the following statement on the House floor in support of H.R. 2578, the Fiscal Year 2016 Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations Bil.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2016 Defense Appropriations bill on a voice vote. The bill will now head to the House floor for consideration. The legislation funds critical national security needs, military operations abroad, and health and quality-of-life programs for the men and women of the Armed Forces and their families.

The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2016 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation funds the State Department and foreign assistance – prioritizing funding for American security efforts abroad, as well as critical humanitarian aid to areas facing war, conflict, and instability.

The bill funds the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other related agencies.
