Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Appropriations Committee released the Fiscal Year 2027 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Bill. The bill will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow, April 23rd at 9:00 a.m. The markup will be live-streamed and can be found on the Committee’s website.

Washington, D.C. – ICYMI: Appropriators continue the work of responsible governance, with hearings on FY27 funding well underway. Subcommittees have been working diligently to build on the FY26 enacted bills while laying the groundwork for the upcoming fiscal year. Oversight is a core responsibility of the Appropriations Committee. During proceedings, federal agencies must answer for how taxpayer dollars are spent, and inspectors general provide independent audits and findings on the use of funds. This process strengthens accountability and promotes transparency across government. 

Washington, D.C. – This week, the House Appropriations Committee convened its first hearing of the year, with Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Subcommittee Chairman Andy Harris (R-MD) and members receiving testimony from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Office of Inspector General (OIG) on efforts to support the Trump Administration’s priority of rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse. The proceeding highlighted issues with fraudulent and improper payments, national security concerns, including the smuggling of biological hazards and illicit agricultural products, the buying of farmland by China, and vulnerabilities in agricultural data and research labs. 

Washington, D.C. – With the enactment of the Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act, 2026, into law, House Republicans restored order, reopened the government, and advanced three full-year appropriations bills funding the Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, Agriculture, Rural Development, and the Food and Drug Administration.

After a damaging and unnecessary shutdown that lasted 43 days, a funding extension that House Republicans called for and passed in September is finally headed to President Trump’s desk.
