Washington, D.C. – Democrats have kept the government shut down longer than any shutdown in history. They have made a choice to inflict needless hardship on families, federal workers, and communities nationwide. This crisis was entirely preventable – the clean, nonpartisan continuing resolution (CR) Senate Democrats continue to block is exactly what they requested. Because the truth remains, before Minority Leaders Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer decided to take funding of the federal government hostage – a clean, short-term CR is something they’ve supported dozens of times.

The shutdown has already inflicted billions in economic damage, disrupted critical services, and left federal workers and vulnerable communities in limbo.
