House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Chairman Charlie Dent today spoke on the House floor in support of H.R. 2029, the Fiscal Year 2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill.
His statement follows:
"Today, it is my honor and privilege to bring H.R. 2029, the fiscal year 2016 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies appropriations bill to the House of Representatives.

The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2016 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation includes $55.3 billion in discretionary funding for the Department of Transportation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and other related agencies.

On a bipartisan basis, the House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. The legislation will now head to the House floor for consideration. The legislation contains funding to house, train, and equip military personnel, provide housing and services to military families, and help maintain base infrastructure. The bill also funds veterans’ benefits and programs. In total, the bill provides $76.6 billion in discretionary funding – $4.6 billion above the fiscal year 2015 level.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2016 Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, which will now head to the House floor for consideration. The legislation provides annual funding for national defense nuclear weapons activities, the Army Corps of Engineers, various programs under the Department of Energy (DOE), and other related agencies.
