House Passes Faulty “Stimulus” Legislation
Lewis: “Trillion is the new million in Washington”
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The House today passed the much-criticized “stimulus” legislation on a virtual party-line vote. The legislation contains a total of almost $800 billion, the majority of it to fund various new and existing government programs.
House Appropriations Ranking Republican Jerry Lewis voted no on the package.
Stimulus Conference Report – Air-drops, Adds, and Alterations
No one save for a few Democrat leaders and staff has seen the full text of the stimulus legislation, and reports indicate that some of it is still being written. At some point, Members of Congress will be asked to vote on this legislation with very little time to view or research its contents – likely less than an hour or two.

Democrats Continue to “Negotiate” Massive Stimulus Bill Behind Closed Doors
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A scheduled House-Senate conference committee meeting on the stimulus bill was cancelled by House Democrat leaders this afternoon. Senate Appropriations Chairman Inouye – who is also the Chair of the conference committee, indicated that the meeting would be postponed due to the Democrat House conferees’ need to be “briefed” on the stimulus agreement.
