First, I want to thank Chairman Quigley and Ranking Member Womack for their work on the fiscal year 2023 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Bill. I also want to acknowledge the committee staff for their efforts.
WASHINGTON – Today, the full committee met to consider the fiscal year 2023 bills for the subcommittees on Homeland Security and Financial Services and General Government.
Before I get into my formal remarks, I would like to thank the distinguished chair, Ms. Roybal-Allard for her tremendous service to this body. I know her father was a valued Member of this House before she came here.
WASHINGTON – Today, the Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee and the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education Subcommittee considered their appropriations bills for fiscal year 2023. The measures were reported out to the full committee with concerns raised by Republicans.
Ranking Member Kay Granger (R-TX), the lead Republican for the Appropriations Committee, said of the measures, "It is irresponsible to increase funding for the same social programs that received trillions of dollars over the last year.
