Amodei, Cole: Enforce the Law, Secure the Border
Washington, D.C. – House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Mark Amodei (R-NV) and Committee Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) today remarked on the House floor in support of H.R. 8752, the Fiscal Year 2025 Homeland Security Appropriations Act. They highlighted how the legislation responsibly provides adequate resources to secure the border, remove dangerous criminals, and bolster our national security.

Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Amodei remarked, “We have heard from the professionals in the field—our Border Patrol agents and CBP officers—who are being crushed dealing with the unprecedented flow of migrants day after day. This bill supports them – through real policy change, not just words. Our colleagues across the aisle are content to treat the border crisis as an issue that can be managed – by throwing huge sums of money at the problem their failed policies created. It. Does. Not. Work. Our DHS law enforcement professionals don’t want to manage the border – they want to enforce the law, and for us to change course to end the chaos.”

In remarks submitted to the record, Chairman Cole stated, “President Biden’s policies at the southern border have created a humanitarian and security crisis, overwhelming not only the border itself, but also communities across the country. Each month hundreds of thousands of migrants cross the border illegally, many of whom are allowed to remain in the country without consequence. The decision to allow an open southern border has meant that countless wrongdoers – human traffickers, narcotraffickers, and potential terrorists – can enter our country freely. Enough is enough. Today’s bill will take steps to end this state of affairs.”
