Committee Releases FY27 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Appropriations Committee released the Fiscal Year 2027 bill for the Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee. The bill will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow, April 30th at 8:00 a.m. The markup will be live-streamed and can be found on the Committee’s website.
Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee Chairman Hal Rogers said, "Not only are we marking 250 impressive years for our country, we are also crafting a stronger economic future by advancing appropriations bills that meet the needs of the American people and support President Trump’s America First Agenda. This bill fortifies our commitment for a safer, more resilient nation through key investments for Commerce, Justice, Science and related agencies. NASA’s successful Artemis II mission around the moon was an inspiring reminder that we must remain ahead of global competition – and that same vision is reflected throughout this bill. We are protecting hard-earned taxpayer dollars by supporting a new National Fraud Enforcement Division. As DEA continues to dismantle dangerous drug cartels, we’re ramping up efforts to stop fentanyl from flooding into our communities. The bill also enhances weather forecasting tools to help protect folks during severe storms. With Chairman Tom Cole at the helm of the House Appropriations Committee, we are investing in a brighter future in America for the next 250 years."
Chairman Tom Cole said, "The Fiscal Year 2027 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies bill reflects a clear shift back to fundamentals – protecting the American people, enforcing the law, and investing in the capabilities that keep our nation secure and competitive. It strengthens federal, state, and local law enforcement, intensifies the fight against fentanyl and violent crime, and ensures our justice system has the tools to deliver accountability. To compete, prosper, and surpass the challenges of global competition, we protect American innovation from theft, reinforce export controls, and advance critical technologies. On the heels of the historic Artemis II launch, we are building on congressional investments to usher in the new age of human deep space exploration that will define the future. Chairman Rogers is not only Dean of the House – but a constant driving force in appropriations. His FY27 bill reflects that expertise and delivers results that put public safety, responsibility, and American strength first."
Fiscal Year 2027 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill
The Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act provides a total discretionary allocation of $77.341 billion, which represents a $670 million decrease compared to the Fiscal Year 2026 enacted level. The defense portion of the allocation is $7.234 billion, and the non-defense portion of the allocation is $70.107 billion.
The bill appropriately right-sizes federal agencies while refocusing agency programs and operations on their core missions. Importantly, the bill directs funding to support the fight against fentanyl, provides robust funding for state and local law enforcement, and invests in efforts to counter Communist China – all while safeguarding the constitutional rights of Americans.
