Committee Releases FY27 Defense Appropriations Bill
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Appropriations Committee released the Fiscal Year 2027 bill for the Defense Subcommittee. The bill will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow, June 11th, at 9:00 a.m., during a closed markup.
Defense Subcommittee Chairman Ken Calvert said, "The FY27 Defense Appropriations bill provides the resources necessary to ensure the U.S. military remains the strongest fighting force in the world. Recent conflicts have highlighted the pressing need to acquire and produce the munitions, weapons, and technology our troops require to meet the moment in both modern and future warfare. The increased funding provided in this bill aims to achieve that urgent goal in addition to building off the defense innovation programs I have prioritized as Chairman. The Defense Innovation Unit, APFIT, and Civil Reserve Manufacturing Network (CRMN) are prioritized in the FY27 bill to get our warfighters access to game-changing technologies, weapons, and the tools they need to win on the battlefield. I appreciate the leadership of Chairman Tom Cole and contributions of our Defense Subcommittee members in crafting this bill."
Chairman Tom Cole said, "Deterrence is not achieved by intentions, but by strength and capabilities. The FY27 Defense bill reinforces that very notion. It preserves America's military superiority by investing in readiness, advanced weapons systems, innovation, and support for servicemembers and their families. At its core, this bill recognizes a simple reality – a safer world depends on a strong America. Chairman Calvert has focused every investment on delivering capability to the warfighter, modernizing our military, revitalizing the defense industrial base, and improving quality of life for those who serve. The world has a way of exposing the consequences of complacency. We will not sit idle. Instead, thanks to this legislation, we are ensuring our armed forces remain equipped, prepared, and ready for whatever threat emerges. The result is a stronger military, a more secure nation, and a clear message to our adversaries: the United States will remain the world's preeminent fighting force and the strongest guarantor of preserving freedom."
