Committee Releases FY27 Homeland Security Appropriations Bill

June 4, 2026

Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Appropriations Committee released the Fiscal Year 2027 bill for the Homeland Security Subcommittee. The bill will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow, June 5th, at 8:00 a.m. – immediately following the conclusion of the subcommittee markup for the FY27 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies measure. The markup will be live-streamed and can be found on the Committee’s website.

Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Mark Amodei said, "Chairing the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Appropriations has undoubtedly come with its share of challenges over the past fiscal year. While the finger pointing may continue elsewhere, our focus has always been on finding practical solutions to the challenges before us. The bill we advanced to the full committee today reflects that commitment through commonsense funding decisions that maintain strong border security, protect critical infrastructure and networks from persistent cyber threats, ensure communities have the resources they need when disasters strike, and build on our investments to the Coast Guard, whose presence and mission help keep our nation and our allies safe. On our road to restoring regular order this time around, I hope we've learned that when this process is disrupted, it is the people we serve who bear the consequences."

Chairman Tom Cole said, "Securing the homeland and keeping Americans safe in their communities is a fundamental duty of the federal government. While progressive elements have acted to starve DHS of critical resources, Republicans will not. This FY27 bill provides the personnel, technology, and resources needed to protect our borders, defend our streets, and confront the threats facing our nation. It reinforces the frontline responsibilities of government by strengthening immigration enforcement, combating illicit drug trafficking, supporting law enforcement, and improving cybersecurity resilience. With major national events such as the 2028 Olympic Games on the horizon, it prioritizes the capabilities necessary to protect the public and respond swiftly to emerging threats. The bill also strengthens disaster preparedness and recovery efforts, ensuring states and local communities are better equipped to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. With this being Chairman Amodei's final appropriations measure introduced, it is a fitting capstone to a career dedicated to making America safer, stronger, and more secure."
