Granger on Agriculture, Rural Development, and FDA Bill
May 23, 2019
Press Release
WASHINGTON – Today, the Agriculture Subcommittee met to consider its appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020. The measure was reported out of the Subcommittee and is expected to be considered soon by the Full Committee.
Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) said of the measure, "Over the past few years, the agriculture industry has been significantly impacted by natural disasters, historically low commodity prices, high input costs, and unfair trade practices. This bill makes substantial investments in the industry and our rural communities, supporting producers, food safety, and rural development programs throughout the nation.
"Unfortunately, I am concerned about the overall funding level and that an important pro-life provision was removed from the bill. I want to work with my colleagues as the bill moves through the process to address these concerns."
