Granger: Cole is a True Statesman - Reasonable Yet Unwavering in His Principles
WASHINGTON - Today, House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger released the following statement regarding the Republican Steering Committee's recommendation that Rep. Tom Cole serve as the new Chair of the House Appropriations Committee. The recommendation comes after Granger requested a new Chair to be selected to serve out the remainder of the 118th Congress, with Granger remaining on the Committee as Chair Emeritus. The recommendation will now go before the Republican Conference to be ratified.
“I am very pleased that my good friend Tom Cole has been selected to lead the Appropriations Committee as Chair.
“He has served in various leadership positions on the Committee, including as Chair of two of the largest subcommittees. He has proven himself to be a fierce advocate for life and a strong national defense. And most importantly, he is a true statesman - reasonable yet unwavering in his principles. There is no one better to lead the Committee than Tom.
“As I transition to the role of Chair Emeritus, I look forward to continuing to work with Tom, and I am excited to see what he accomplishes as Chair of our great Committee.”
