Granger Concerned about Path Forward for Appropriations Bills
May 1, 2019
Press Release
WASHINGTON – Today, both the Legislative Branch and the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Subcommittees met to consider their appropriations bills for fiscal year 2020. The measures were reported out of the Subcommittees and are expected to be considered soon by the Full Committee.
Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) said of the measures, "Unfortunately, the appropriations bills marked up today were drafted using a topline funding level that does not reflect bipartisan consensus.
"While these appropriations bills support many programs that are important to our communities, they are inconsistent with the budget caps for next year. Without new legislation, passing these bills could lead to a presidential veto, a government shutdown, and devastating cuts to programs that support our nation's security."
