WAR COSTS: What we get for the money

WASHINGTON, D.C. – According the Democrat majority on the House Appropriations Committee, the war in Iraq is costing our country $339 million every day.

While the price of war is high, the American people get an incalculable return on their investment in the security of our country, in the spread of freedom and democracy throughout the Middle East, and in the hope of a world free from the threat of terror.

For $339 Million a day, the American people get:

  • The disarming and disabling of thousands of terrorist fighters and militias, all of whom aim to destroy the United States and harm American citizens: Cost = Priceless.

  • The dismantling of terrorist training facilities and destruction of weapons stockpiles, which were used to train and arm terrorists to fight against our country, our troops, and our allies: Cost = Priceless.

  • The elimination of despotic dictator Sadaam Hussein and terrorist leaders such as Abu Musab al-Zarqawi: Cost = Priceless

  • The freedom of the Iraqi people to have and enjoy a democratic government after decades of tyranny and oppression, including the ability to vote in fair and democratic elections for the first time, ever: Cost = Priceless

  • The end of cruel authoritarian regime in Iraq that murdered and tortured hundreds of thousands of its own citizens: Cost = Priceless.

  • The prevention of the spread of terrorism to future generations by acting to head off the threat today: Cost = Priceless

  • The protection of 300 million Americans from terrorism and war within our borders: Cost = Priceless.
