Cole Remarks at FY25 Legislative Branch Bill Full Committee Markup

Our work as representatives is prescribed by the Constitution, and we are all here today to keep the government working for the American people.

The Legislative Branch Appropriations Act before us will enable us to execute our Article I responsibilities.

Our greatest duty is to our constituents—and this bill provides additional resources for us to effectively serve their needs. It supports the safety of the Capitol complex for visitors and reinforces the work of the U.S. Capitol police. And it keeps national institutions like the Library of Congress, Government Accountability Office, and Congressional Budget Office functioning.

Importantly, it also upholds accountability, ensuring Congress can mandate strong oversight over the Biden Administration.

This bill supports the Legislative Branch’s capacity to effectively serve the public in a fiscally responsible manner.
