Cole Remarks at FY25 Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Bill Full Markup

July 10, 2024
Remarks

Our markups continue today with the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education bill. It’s a measure I have a deep familiarity with and appreciation for, and one that impacts just about every American.

Valuable taxpayer dollars are directed to maximize results and benefits for the nation. We invest in research to make life-changing treatments a reality, strengthen our biodefense, and support our medical supply chains.

Education and school safety programs are supported to encourage the well-being of America’s children and students. Resources to confront the scourge of substance abuse, which has stolen far too many lives, are also included. The strength of America’s workforce is also supported through the rejection of job-killing regulations.

Importantly, the bill reins in the Biden Administration’s burdensome overreach and divisive policy agenda. We protect taxpayers from infringement of their due process rights and religious liberties, as well as President Biden’s forced attempts to charge them with loans of others.

We preserve longstanding bipartisan provisions to protect unborn children and the conscience rights of Americans.

Funds are guided to help our communities, students, and workforce—helping to build a brighter future.

This is a strong bill, and I thank Chairman Aderholt for his thoughtful work. I urge all members to support this measure.
