House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen made the following statement on the House floor today in support of a bill making emergency appropriations to support response to and recovery from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, and the wildfires in the Western U.S.:
Mr. Speaker, I rise today to present House Resolution 569, a bill making additional supplemental appropriations for disaster relief requirements for the current fiscal year to help respond to recent, devastating natural disasters.

The House of Representatives today passed a package of funding bills (H.R. 3354) to provide all discretionary funding for the federal government for the 2018 fiscal year. The package of bills contains the full legislation and funding for all of the 12 annual Appropriations bills, and totals $1.2 trillion, including $87 billion in funding for Global War on Terror (GWOT)/Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO). This legislation funds critical federal programs such as our national defense, invests in proven and effective government activities, and helps reduce unnecessary and wasteful spending.

The House of Representatives today approved a final bill to provide additional emergency assistance to respond to Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, to raise the debt ceiling to allow the United States to meet its financial obligations, and to allow for the continuation of vital government programs and services. The legislation will now be sent to the President for his signature.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2018 Agriculture Appropriations bill on a voice vote. The legislation funds important agricultural and food programs and services, including food and medical product safety, animal and plant health programs, rural development and farm services, agricultural trade, financial marketplace oversight, and nutrition programs.
