House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen made the following statement on legislation containing emergency supplemental funding to help in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Florence, which was introduced Saturday as H.R 302.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2019 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill on a vote of 29-22 . The bill targets critical programs such as aviation security, border and immigration enforcement, customs activities, protection against cyberterrorism, natural disaster response, and efforts to stop the smuggling of drugs and people into the U.S.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the draft fiscal year 2019 Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education (LHHS) funding bill on a vote of 30-22. The legislation includes funding for programs within the Department of Labor, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of Education, and other related agencies.
