Good morning and welcome to the first meeting of the Committee on Appropriations for the 118th congress.
The business today is to consider the Committee Rules and Subcommittee Jurisdictions.
Before we do that, I want to start by saying that serving on this committee has been one of the greatest honors of my time in Congress.
I am humbled to serve as your Chair.
We have our work cut out for us this year.
In many ways, the odds are stacked against us.
WASHINGTON – Today, House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger (TX) announced the Republican subcommittee rosters for the 118th Congress. Granger will serve as an ex officio member on all twelve subcommittees.

WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. The recommendations will now go before the Republican Conference to be ratified.
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Kay Granger (TX), released the following statement after the Republican Conference officially named her chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee for the 118th Congress.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Kay Granger (TX), Chairwoman-Elect of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on Rep. Kevin McCarthy's (CA) election to serve as the 55th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
"While it took longer than it should have, I am glad that Kevin McCarthy has been successful in his bid to become Speaker of the House. I am confident in his ability to lead the House and serve the American people, and I know Kevin will continue to fight for conservative priorities.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today in opposition to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 6833, a short-term continuing resolution extending government funding through December 16th.
I oppose this CR for several reasons.
First, we should be here addressing the border crisis, the energy crisis, and the inflation crisis. This bill does nothing to fix any of these issues.
