Washington, D.C. – Today, the House Appropriations Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Subcommittee announced the Fiscal Year 2027 American Indian and Alaska Native public witness hearing dates and instructions for providing a written public testimony. The subcommittee will host American Indian and Alaska Native public witness hearings on Tuesday, March 17, and Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Trump enacted H.R. 6938, the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026, into law. Following the signing ceremony held at the White House, Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK), Commerce, Justice, Science Subcommittee Chairman Hal Rogers (R-KY), Interior and Environment Subcommittee Chairman Mike Simpson (R-ID), and Energy and Water Subcommittee Chairman Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN) released the following statements:

January 9, 2026
Washington, D.C. – This week, the House of Representatives passed the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026, with a vote of 397 to 28. H.R. 6938 is expected to pass the Senate and be signed into law by President Trump next week, completing six of the twelve appropriations bills. Work continues on floor passage of the remaining FY26 legislation.

January 8, 2026
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives passed the Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, 2026 with a vote of 397 to 28. Appropriators have been making steady Article I progress, with three full-year appropriations bills signed into law and three more heading to President Trump's desk following Senate passage next week. All twelve full-year funding bills have passed through committee, and work continues on floor passage of remaining FY26 legislation.

Negotiated and delivered on a bipartisan, bicameral basis, the conferenced legislation makes targeted Fiscal Year 2026 investments to bolster U.S. energy dominance and nuclear deterrence, strengthen law enforcement and efforts to combat illicit drugs, expand access to critical minerals, and support wildland firefighters and responsible land management.
