Good morning. I am very pleased to welcome our new Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, to the House Appropriations Committee. Today we will hear about the Department of Education’s budget request for Fiscal Year 2026. Secretary McMahon has wasted no time implementing President Trump’s bold agenda to restore education to the states and I want to commend her efforts to hit the ground running.

Good morning. It is my pleasure to begin today’s hearing by welcoming our new Secretary of Health and Human Services to the House Appropriations Committee. Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Confirmed to his Cabinet post just three months ago, he has hit the ground running with the aim of implementing the President’s goal to Make America Healthy Again. Mr. Secretary, we are pleased to have you with us here today.

This is our public witness day – an opportunity for members of the public to come before this panel and draw our attention to issues of importance to them.
