The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2012 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development funding bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation includes funding for the Department of Transportation, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and other related agencies.

House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (KY-05), House Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee Chairman Robert Aderholt (AL-04) and House Appropriations Financial Services Subcommittee Chairwoman Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) today released the following statement after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) invoked an “immediate needs posture” indicating that funding for the Disaster Relief Fund (DRF) has reached dangerously low levels. In addition, the DRF could be drained further with the added possibility of yet more funding needs as Hurricane Irene approaches the eastern seaboard.

House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers today stated his intention to complete the fiscal year 2012 Appropriations process as soon as possible – avoiding a potentially harmful drawn-out budget process that could further undermine the nation’s fiscal stability. In addition, Rogers reiterated his commitment to maintaining the recently passed debt-ceiling agreement, which holds discretionary spending to $1.043 trillion for fiscal year 2012.
