The House Appropriations Committee today released its proposed fiscal year 2012 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill. The legislation will be marked-up in subcommittee tomorrow, and is among the first Appropriations bills to move to subcommittee this year.

The House Appropriations Committee today released the initial fiscal year 2012 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill. The legislation will be marked-up in subcommittee tomorrow, and includes a total of $72.5 billion in discretionary funding, which is $615 million below last year's level and $1.2 billion below the President's fiscal year 2012 request.

House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers today announced the schedule for the completion of work on the 12 fiscal year 2012 Appropriations bills by the end of the fiscal year on September 30th. The plan includes marking up and approving each bill at both the Subcommittee and Full Committee levels in the next few months before the August recess.

The House Committee on Appropriations Subcommittee on the Legislative Branch circulated a "Dear Colleague" letter regarding Members' programmatic and language submissions for consideration in the fiscal year 2012 Appropriations bill.
