The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2012 Commerce, Justice, Science (CJS) Appropriations bill, which provides annual funding for the Departments of Commerce and Justice, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the National Science Foundation (NSF), and other related agencies.

"I want to first thank Chairman Rogers for supporting us with a fair allocation. We are pleased to be returning to regular order and hope to bring this bill to the House floor before the August recess.

"Today, the Subcommittee will mark up the fiscal year 2012 Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies appropriations bill. The recommendation we bring to the Subcommittee contains $50.2 billion in discretionary spending. This level represents a reduction of 6 percent below the current fiscal year and 13 percent below the President's request. In fact, the recommendation is even 3 percent below the pre-Stimulus fiscal year 2008 spending level.
