The House Appropriations Committee today moved forward on legislation to provide $36.5 billion in emergency funding for hurricane and wildfire relief and recovery.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the individuals, families, and communities that have been ravaged by Hurricane Harvey. We commend FEMA, the Department of Defense, and the other federal and state agencies on the ground and so many private organizations, like the American Red Cross, for their ongoing efforts to rescue, house and assist thousands of people in need."

The House of Representatives today approved the Department of Defense Appropriations Act (H.R. 3219) to provide funding for national security for the 2018 fiscal year. The bill, also known as the Make America Secure Appropriations Act, was passed on a vote of 235-192.

All of our Appropriations bills contain important funding for essential programs that serve the American people. The House today passed the fiscal year 2017 Defense Appropriations bill on a vote of 371-48. The bill will now head to the Senate for approval.
