Recent Activity
Good morning and welcome to the first meeting of the Committee on Appropriations for the 118th congress.
The business today is to consider the Committee Rules and Subcommittee Jurisdictions.
Before we do that, I want to start by saying that serving on this committee has been one of the greatest honors of my time in Congress.
I am humbled to serve as your Chair.
We have our work cut out for us this year.
In many ways, the odds are stacked against us.
But as I look across the room, I am reminded that we – as Appropriators – always find a way to get the job done for the American people.
I am hopeful that together we will continue that great tradition.
As I lead this committee, I will focus our work on that which unites us.
WASHINGTON – Today, House Appropriations Chairwoman Kay Granger (TX) announced the Republican subcommittee rosters for the 118th Congress. Granger will serve as an ex officio member on all twelve subcommittees.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Republican Steering Committee approved Chairwoman Kay Granger's slate of subcommittee chairs for the 118th Congress. In addition, Granger announced that Rep. Tom Cole (OK) will serve as the vice chair of the Appropriations Committee during the 118th Congress.
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Kay Granger (TX), Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee, announced the Republican Steering Committee's recommendations for new Republican Members who will serve on the Committee for the 118th Congress. The recommendations will now go before the Republican Conference to be ratified.
WASHINGTON – Today, Rep. Kay Granger (TX), released the following statement after the Republican Conference officially named her chairwoman of the House Appropriations Committee for the 118th Congress.
WASHINGTON – Rep. Kay Granger (TX), Chairwoman-Elect of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on Rep. Kevin McCarthy's (CA) election to serve as the 55th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.
"While it took longer than it should have, I am glad that Kevin McCarthy has been successful in his bid to become Speaker of the House. I am confident in his ability to lead the House and serve the American people, and I know Kevin will continue to fight for conservative priorities.
Mr. Speaker, I rise today in opposition to the Senate Amendment to H.R. 6833, a short-term continuing resolution extending government funding through December 16th.
I oppose this CR for several reasons.
First, we should be here addressing the border crisis, the energy crisis, and the inflation crisis. This bill does nothing to fix any of these issues.
In fact, this bill actually bails out the Biden Administration for their failures and provides additional appropriations to put a band-aid on some of these problems for a few more months.
WASHINGTON – This week, Rep. Kay Granger (TX), the Lead Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, joined the Republican Leaders of three other House committees in sending letters to agency officials regarding rulemakings and other executive actions that clearly overstep the Biden Administration's authority. The letters bring attention to West Virginia v. EPA, a recent Supreme Court decision reiterating that "all legislative powers" remain with Congress.
