Defense Subcommittee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen gave the following statement on the House floor today in support of H.R. 4870, the Fiscal Year 2015 Defense Appropriations bill.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2015 Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill on a bipartisan voice vote. The legislation provides annual funding for national defense nuclear weapons activities, the Army Corps of Engineers, various programs under the Department of Energy (DOE), and other related agencies.

The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2015 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The bill provides annual funding for the Treasury Department, the Judiciary, the Small Business Administration, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and several other agencies.

The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2015 State and Foreign Operations Appropriations bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The bill totals $48.3 billion in both regular discretionary and Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) funding. This total is $708 million below the fiscal year 2014 enacted level and $277 million below the President’s request for these programs.
