ICYMI, the Interior and Environment Subcommittee held an oversight hearing on the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women. During the hearing, Tribal members conveyed the lack of manpower and infrastructure needed to investigate missing cases and homicides, all of which have been exacerbated by jurisdictional issues among state, federal, and Tribal entities.

I want to welcome Commissioner O’Malley to this subcommittee for the first hearing for the Social Security Administration in over a decade.  The last hearing held by this subcommittee was ten years ago under my friend, and former colleague, Mr. Kingston.

Good morning. I would like to welcome Dr. Shereef Elnahal, Under Secretary for Health and Mr. Josh Jacobs, Under Secretary for Benefits at the Veterans Benefits Administration both of the Department of Veterans Affairs. 

The subcommittee recognizes and appreciates the work being done at the VA. We know that since the PACT Act, enrollment in VA health care has grown significantly as we provide earned benefits to our veterans.
