I would like to once again welcome everyone to the first full committee markup of Fiscal Year 2027. To Chairman Carter and Ranking Member Wasserman Schultz – thank you for your work in getting us to this point as we begin consideration of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs bill. And to Ranking Member DeLauro, I look forward to another season of bipartisan engagement and lively debate.
Thank you, Chairman Cole, and I want to commend your leadership as we begin the fiscal year 2027 appropriations process and wrap up the Committee’s work on the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies bill. I also wish to recognize the Ranking Member of the Full Committee, Ms. DeLauro, and the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee, Ms. Wasserman-Schultz, for their engagement on the bill before us. Washington, D.C. – Today, Chairman Tom Cole (R-OK) announced the Republican Steering Committee's recommendation for Congressman Jefferson Shreve (R-IN) to join the House Appropriations Committee. He will be officially added to the roster following the adoption of a resolution on the House floor tomorrow.
