The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2016 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation contains funding to house, train, and equip military personnel, provide housing and services to military families, and help maintain base infrastructure. The bill also funds veterans’ benefits and programs. In total, the legislation provides $76.6 billion in discretionary funding – $4.6 billion above the fiscal year 2015 level.

The House Appropriations Committee today released the fiscal year 2016 Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill, which will be considered in subcommittee tomorrow. The legislation provides annual funding for national defense nuclear weapons activities, the Army Corps of Engineers, various programs under the Department of Energy (DOE), and other related agencies. The bill totals $35.4 billion – $1.2 billion above the fiscal year 2015 enacted level and $633 million below the President’s request.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers today announced the Republican Members who will serve as Vice Chairs of the 12 Appropriations subcommittees for the 114th Congress. These Members will serve as Chair of the subcommittee in the absence of the Chairperson, and assist them in official Committee duties.

The Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense has scheduled a hearing to take Member’s testimony on the Defense Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2016 on April 15 at 9 a.m. in H-140, the Capitol. Each Member will have 5 minutes for oral remarks. The order of appearance and additional hearing details will be forwarded before the hearing.
