WASHINGTON – Rep. Kay Granger (TX), Chairwoman-Elect of the House Appropriations Committee, released the following statement on Rep. Kevin McCarthy's (CA) election to serve as the 55th Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"While it took longer than it should have, I am glad that Kevin McCarthy has been successful in his bid to become Speaker of the House. I am confident in his ability to lead the House and serve the American people, and I know Kevin will continue to fight for conservative priorities.

WASHINGTON – This week, Rep. Kay Granger (TX), the Lead Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, joined the Republican Leaders of three other House committees in sending letters to agency officials regarding rulemakings and other executive actions that clearly overstep the Biden Administration's authority. The letters bring attention to West Virginia v. EPA, a recent Supreme Court decision reiterating that "all legislative powers" remain with Congress.

WASHINGTON – Today, the full committee met to consider the fiscal year 2023 subcommittee spending levels, known as "302(b)" allocations. The appropriations bills for the subcommittees on Defense and Legislative Branch were also considered by the full committee.

WASHINGTON – Today, Appropriations Committee Republicans sent a letter to the Acting Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requesting details on unobligated and unspent funds provided to address the COVID-19 pandemic. The letter, led by the Republican Leader of the Committee, Rep. Kay Granger (R-TX), comes as the Congress prepares to consider additional legislation.
