WASHINGTON – Today, the Labor, Health & Human Services, and Education Subcommittee met to consider its appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020. The measure was reported out of the Subcommittee and is expected to be considered soon by the Full Committee.

Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) said of the measure, "I support the bill's long-standing pro-life riders and funding levels for the National Institute of Health, public health emergencies, and pediatric cancer initiatives.

Today, Chairman Charlie Dent (PA-15) and the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs heard testimony from Robert A. McDonald, the Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). President Obama appointed Secretary McDonald to head the VA in July of 2014. This was his first appearance before the subcommittee to lay out the VA’s budget requests.
