WASHINGTON – Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) issued the following statement after opposing the Democrats' second appropriations package, H.R. 3055, which includes Commerce, Justice, and Science; Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration; Interior and Environment; Military Construction and Veteran Affairs; and Transportation and Housing and Urban Development. The measure passed with a final vote of 227 to 194 - all Republicans present opposed the measure.

WASHINGTON – Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) issued the following statement after opposing the Democrats' first appropriations package, H.R. 2740, which includes Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, Defense, State and Foreign Operations, and Energy and Water Development. Seven Democrats joined all Republicans in opposing the measure with a final vote of 226 to 203.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Full Committee met to consider the fiscal year 2020 Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill. The bill includes many priorities supported by Members on both sides of the aisle, such as support for small businesses, drug control programs, and the Treasury Department's counterterrorism and financial intelligence efforts. However, the bill includes an irresponsible funding increase and controversial policy provisions, and therefore, Committee Republicans were unable to support the bill.

The bill makes significant headway in improving the safety and quality of life of the public, but due to controversial provisions and the overall funding level, Committee Republicans were unable to support the bill.

While the bill makes substantial investments in agriculture and our rural communities, Committee Republicans were unable to support the bill due to problematic provisions and the funding levels in the bill.
