Thank you, Chairman Cole, for your remarks and your leadership on this Committee. This bill builds on work you did as chair of this subcommittee last year, so I am grateful not just for what you have achieved so far for this Committee, but also for the foundation you laid on this particular bill.

The Fiscal Year 2025 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies bill before us lays out clear priorities: we are elevating the protection and security of our communities and advancing our nation’s leadership in innovation and economic opportunity. All this is done while enhancing government accountability and saving taxpayer dollars. 

The United States boasts many natural wonders and resources, and today’s Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies bill broadly supports our nation’s rich natural and cultural heritage.

Our third bill for today provides strong support for energy and water development – which are critical to the prosperity and security of our great nation.
