The U.S. House of Representatives today approved funding to extend federal operations, and to fund the Department of Defense for the 2018 Fiscal Year. The Continuing Resolution (CR) is a stopgap measure that will maintain government funding through March 23, 2018. In absence of this legislation, existing funding would run out on February 8, 2018.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen made the following statement on the House floor today in support of H.R. 695, a bill that provides full-year funding for the Department of Defense for Fiscal Year 2018.

The House of Representatives today re-passed legislation to fund the Department of Defense for the 2018 Fiscal Year. The bill, which was introduced and passed in the House twice since July 2017, has not been acted on by the Senate.

The House Appropriations Committee today moved forward on legislation to provide $36.5 billion in emergency funding for hurricane and wildfire relief and recovery.
