WASHINGTON – Today, top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) released the following statement on the two Fiscal Year 2020 appropriations packages that fully fund the government through September 30th, 2020.

WASHINGTON – Today, top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) delivered the following remarks on H.R. 4378, a short-term continuing resolution that continues funding for military and civilian government programs through November 21st.

"Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of H.R. 4378 – a continuing resolution that will fund the government through November 21st.

"It is unfortunate that we are in this situation and have to pass this CR to keep the government open, but we cannot afford an unnecessary and costly shutdown.

"Because the budget agreement did not get enacted until August, the Senate just began working on the FY20 appropriations bills last week.

"As a result, there is simply not enough time to complete the appropriations process by the September 30th deadline.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Full Committee met to consider two appropriations bills for fiscal year 2020 - the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Bill and the Legislative Branch Bill. Unfortunately, the funding in these bills is significantly higher than what is currently laid out in law, and many of the policy positions run counter to Republican priorities.

WASHINGTON – Today, the Labor, Health & Human Services, and Education Subcommittee met to consider its appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020. The measure was reported out of the Subcommittee and is expected to be considered soon by the Full Committee.

Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) said of the measure, "I support the bill's long-standing pro-life riders and funding levels for the National Institute of Health, public health emergencies, and pediatric cancer initiatives.
