The U.S. House and Senate Appropriations Committees met today in a joint Conference Committee on the Fiscal Year 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Zika Response appropriations bill (H.R. 2577).

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2017 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill. The legislation includes funding for the Department of the Interior, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Forest Service, the Indian Health Service, and various independent and related agencies.

The House and Senate Appropriations Committees today announced that a conference committee meeting to consider the House and Senate Amendments to H.R. 2577 will be convened. The conference committee will address the Fiscal Year 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Zika Response Appropriations Act. House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers will preside as chair.

The House Appropriations Committee has postponed the full committee markup of the fiscal year 2017 Homeland Security Appropriations bill, which was scheduled for tomorrow, June 14. The markup will now take place on Wednesday, June 22.

The House today approved the fiscal year 2017 Legislative Branch Appropriations bill on a vote of 233-175. The bill provides annual funding for the offices of Members of the House of Representatives, the support agencies of Congress, security and police forces, services for visitors, and Capitol operations and maintenance.

The House Appropriations Committee today approved the fiscal year 2017 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. The bill provides annual funding for the Treasury Department, the Judiciary, the Small Business Administration, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other related agencies.

The House Appropriations Committee today released its proposed fiscal year 2017 Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Appropriations bill, which will be considered tomorrow by the subcommittee. The bill targets critical programs such as aviation security, border and immigration enforcement, customs activities, the protection against cyberterrorism, natural disaster response, and efforts to stop the smuggling of drugs and people into the U.S.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers issued the following statement after H.R. 5055, the fiscal year 2017 Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill, failed to secure the majority vote required for passage.
